jennifer & joe: lifestyle session.

i have figured something out. jennifer and joe pretended that they were not famous top paid models but secretly they are. no wonder people were stopping on the street and trying to figure out who they were. they were too humble to be famous, i thought. but then i uploaded the pictures to my computer and HA! i caught them in their secret. okay i made all of that up but seriously.... how GORGEOUS is this couple?! my wonderful friend lauren invited me along for this shoot in georgetown & i am so happy she did. this couple has been together for 6 years and it shows. they are on the same wavelength. they make each other LAUGH. they balance each other out. they are in love. and it doesn't hurt that they are both stunning. seriously. they wanted some pictures together in their city before they head off to a new one... (location TBD) and prepare yourself, i have broken a record... i will post more pictures of them than i have from any other shoot because 1. i am indecisive and 2. they rocked it out. but mostly the latter.

i have decided i really love second shooting (going along with another photographer) because it opens up different possibilities. it makes me look outside of the box for different angles and ideas because i have to stay out of the way. i shot this through the hole in the gate.

discussing ratios of body language and making moves. "i'm coming 65, you're coming 0." this cracked me up, especially because i do it all the time.

in front of their favorite restaurant. i love pictures of couples with busy backgrounds where you can feel that they can tune out distractions and chaos and be still together. important relationship skill # 89.

see that locket around her neck? that is from her really sweet girlfriend, brittany. they have been dating for awhile and they already have this old timey comfy love. i love them together. they always do all these cute self portraits of themselves together so they were excited when i offered to take some pictures of them. allow me to introduce... BREMMA! aren't they SWEET?!

she's short like me. so now emma has to sort of stop making fun of my height because i can always bring it back around to brittany. brilliant!

shannon & kevin: lifestyle engagement session.

It was so much fun meeting Shannon and Kevin in Old Town Alexandria - my new favorite place :) I went along with Amber Reinink for this lifestyle engagement session and I'm so glad I did! Kevin has a passion for photography, specifically black and white, so it was fun to shoot for someone who really appreciates what goes into the art and really has an eye for it. Shannon was bright, confident, fun, and had such a positive vibe. They were those type of people who never have something negative to say, always talking about ideas, experiences, memories, and the excitement of creating their new life together. Plus, Shannon walked for hours in heels and didn't ever complain, so she gets major points from me. Their cozy little home was like something out of a movie, and so was their love. Bread was baking, it was sprinkled with great color and vintage photography equipment, beautiful and simple black and white photos, and a feel of warmth and simplicity. Being invited into someones home is always so cool and gives you a really good feel of who they are as individuals and how they come together as a couple. I love to see how two people, especially two people like Shannon and Kevin, who met on e-harmony and made a long distance relationship last through the years, came together and create this comfortable, eclectic oasis and are building a beautiful life. Doing engagement sessions is such an honor because it's an opportunity to capture and bottle that essence of unique love at the beginning of the rest of two people's lives together. Thanks for letting me come along!

rebecca & luke: lifestyle session.

Last weekend I met up with Becca and Luke in Old Town Alexandria. I can't believe I've spent almost my entire life in Northern Virginia and have never really spent much time there. I LOVED IT. It was a photographer's dream, I can't wait to go back, so if you're someone who wants pictures taken... please give me another reason to go! It was filled with cool color, texture, art, AND good food. Can't beat that, anyway, I digress....

So, Becca and Luke just celebrated their first year together. They have both grown up around here, but are moving to Austin, TX (definitely where I would move if I were going to move away, by the way - coolest city ever) in the near future, because Becca is going to grad school there. They wanted to take some photos capturing the essence of their life here. They wanted them to have an urban feel and they were adorably nervous in front of the camera. (I am the most awkward person ever in front of a camera, which is why I like to stay behind it, so I totally feel you). Despite that, they totally accomplished their mission. They kept each other laughing and we had a lot of fun exploring. Here are some of my favorites...
